Sources of inspiration for my designs are. The beauty
and purity of nature. And the refinement of centuries-old Japanese crafts and (textile) arts. Arts that have been passed down for generations. Which involve craftsmanship, attention to detail, consideration of the everyday and reverence for nature. Japanese art often involves everyday objects where the level of finishing is extremely high. Everyday life is made into something beautiful.
Modern art is also a source of inspiration. And especially Bauhaus and abstract geometric textile works, shapes and art. Throughout history, geometric patterns and shapes have been used in art, architecture and religion as communication carriers and to create deeper connection.
The warm, muted and natural colours I use to weave connect to the elements of water, fire, earth and air. Living close to the coast, many of these sources of inspiration can be found. The colour of the sea, tempestuous cloud fields, the rocks, the sand. Often I weave with the seasons. In summer, more airy shades and often with linen. In winter, more earthy, dark and neutral tones and mainly with wool.
The patterns are often repetitive. Just like in nature. Seasons, the moon ed. Everything follows a larger pattern and is followed by a certain rhythm. With the rhythm of a pattern, we bring a calm and soothing but also vivid atmosphere inside.
All creations are made from natural and high-quality materials. Only sustainable yarns such as organic linen, cotton and merino wool are used. Yarns that are GOTS or ecologically certified and preferably locally produced.
